As you would expect from a rich and vibrant city like London, there is always something new to do. Just a few of our current London activities include:
Pronunciation Workshop with Brita HaycraftA one-hour session with International House co-founder Brita Haycraft, designed to help you speak English faster, with more energy and expression. This should also help to polish your English word stress and pronunciation. It's easier than you think! Auctions at Christie'sA great opportunity to see a real auction taking place. There are two venues of this world-famous auction house in London - one close to school on King Street and the other a short distance away in South Kensington. Previous auctions that we have visited include "Football Memorabilia", "Old Masters' Pictures", "Important Furniture", "Gold Jewellery" as well as many others. You'll have the chance to view the items before they go "under the hammer" and then you'll be watching as collectors take out their cheque books and put in their bids to buy the many wonderful items. BBC TV & Radio ShowsIt's certainly a fun and interesting experience to be in the audience of a recording. We're fortunate in frequently receiving a wide range of free tickets to shows such as "BBC Symphony Orchestra", "Say the Word" - a new quiz show on the English language, music concerts, comedy sketch shows and quizzes. Visit to the Old Bailey Courts of JusticeA chance to watch a real trial taking place at London's central criminal court. All the most serious cases are brought here, so you could see a trial about anything from fraud to murder! Visit to the Globe TheatreThe Globe Theatre is a faithful reconstruction of the Elizabethan playhouse. Beneath the theatre every aspect of Shakespeare's work has been brought to life using modern technology imaginatively combined with traditional crafts. You can enjoy being centre stage among Globe actors and catch a glimpse of a Russian Hamlet or Japanese Macbeth. Take a 'virtual' look around the theatre and the exhibitions; and go on a real life tour with knowledgeable guides. Visit to the Tate ModernTate Modern is Britain's new national museum of modern art. Housed in the former Bankside Power Station it displays the Tate Collection of international modern art from 1900 to the present day, including works by Dali, Bacon, Picasso, Matisse, Rothko and Warhol as well as contemporary works. Visitors enter through the breathtaking entrance - the former Turbine Hall - and are swept up through two floors featuring three levels of galleries, with shops and cafés. |
