Ben Beaumont
Ben Beaumont studied English Language, with a focus on philology and phonology, at the University of Glasgow. Since graduating, he has taught in Japan, the US and in Korea and has been teaching and training in the UK since 2002. Ben is also an examiner for the Cambridge CAE, BEC and Skills for Life examinations and has presented at IATEFL conferences in the UK and in Spain.
Outside of teaching, Ben’s interests include socialising, cooking and history.

Rachel Clark
Rachel Clark studied Archaeology, Ancient History and Latin at the University of Bristol. She has worked in Argentina, Turkey, Spain, Poland, Lebanon and the UK as a teacher, trainer and director of studies. She is an experienced conference speaker (including IATEFL Lille, IATEFL Krakow and IATEFL Kielce) and co-editor of The International House Journal of Education and Development. She is a CELTA and DELTA assessor and an oral examiner for FCE, CAE, CPE and IELTS. |

Vicens Colomer Domínguez
Vicens Colomer Domínguez has a degree in Romanic Philology from the University of Barcelona (Spain) and has also undertaken Romanic Medieval Philology doctorate courses at the University of Barcelona and La Sorbonne University of Paris. He worked as a teacher of Spanish literature and language and contemporary art and art history for a secondary school in Spain before becoming a teacher of Spanish to non-native speakers. Vicens completed a teacher training course at IH Barcelona where he then joined the teaching staff. He has worked as a teacher in Spain and Ireland for different colleges and schools and has been a teacher and trainer for IH London since 2003. |

Alastair Douglas
Alastair Douglas has a degree in Estate Management from Oxford Polytechnic (now Oxford Brooks University). After working in the property industry he changed career and took a CELTA course at IH London. He subsequently taught in Japan and Indonesia for a number of years returning to IH London in 2001 for his DELTA. He is now a teacher, CELTA trainer and Distance DELTA local tutor. He is currently studying for an MA in ELT and Applied Linguistics at King’s College, London. |

Cathy Ellis has a degree in English Literature from Exeter University. Ben Hammond
Ben Hammond is the proud holder of a degree in Fine Art from Southampton Art School. After seeing what decorating and care work had to offer, he did a CELTA in 1999 and spent two years in Poland teaching younger learners, exam classes, and business English. He returned to the fold in 2001 and has been teacher training at I H London since 2004. He is currently studying for an MA in ELT and applied linguistics at Kings College. In his free time he enjoys the cultural bounty that London has to offer and avoiding cars on his bicycle. |

Estelle Hélouin
Estelle Hélouin holds a degree in English from La Sorbonne University, Paris and a PGCE in Modern Languages. She has taught and trained teachers in England and Spain and was head of the French department in CLIC-International House Seville. Estelle has given conferences on mixed-level classes and brain-based learning (concerned with the study of memory). Her main areas of interest are linguistics and phonetics. |

He has taught and trained teachers in Cape Town, Sydney, Tokyo, Santa Monica, San Francisco and Portland. He is a CELTA assessor and an oral examiner for FCE, CAE, CPE and IELTS. He was Director of Teacher Training for IH USA and is currently Director of Studies (General English) at IH London.

Jovan Ilic
Jovan Ilic has a degree in Geography and Environmental Studies from Manchester Metropolitan University, an MA in Rural Development from the University of Sussex, and a PhD in Environmental Philosophy from Lancaster University. Jovan has taught in language schools, universities and companies in Nepal, Italy, and the U.K. for over 10 years. He is also an examiner for IELTS. Outside of teaching, Jovan enjoys watching sunsets, sleeping under the stars, and going out all day on his bike and not coming back until it gets dark. |

Brenda Lynch
Brenda has been teaching since 1993, her first post in IH Cairo. She taught there for 6 years, during which time she trained as a CELTA trainer and became Director of Studies of the school. She then went on to be Director of Studies in IH Buenos Aires, returning to IH London in 2000. She has worked on a variety of courses in both General English and Teacher Training and is currently the Director of Studies for General English. She is also an experienced CELTA assessor and a Local Tutor for the Distance DELTA.

Duncan Mackenzie
After studying Modern Languages at Christ Church, Oxford, Duncan embarked on a career as a classical music singer in which he endured the highs and lows of any journeyman. The CELTA beckoned in 1999, following which he taught in the Basque Country, Buenos Aires and Prague. It was in the Czech capital that he did the DELTA, co-winning the Cambridge DELTA prize, became a teacher trainer and failed to master the impenetrable language. His time is now spent teaching, training and looking after his 1-year-old daughter. |

Paul Martin
Paul Martin has a degree in Politics and Philosophy from Exeter University. After working for a large multinational consulting company in London and San Francisco (where he did some volunteer teaching) he changed career and started teaching full time in 1999. He then did a CELTA course in 2000 and taught in London, Spain, Germany and several summer schools in the UK before doing the DELTA in 2005. He has taught a wide variety of ages (from children to pensioners) and has been working as a teacher and teacher trainer at IH London since January 2007. |

Celia Noble
Celia Noble has a degree in English and Linguistics from the University of Nottingham. Her first career was in educational publishing but in 1987, after what would prove to be a life-changing four weeks at IH London, she entered the world of ELT. She has taught in Spain and the UK in the private and state sectors, and has been a teacher trainer since 1994. She is also a Cambridge CELTA assessor. She is now delighted to be back at IH London working as a teacher and teacher trainer, where she hopes to provide newcomers to ELT with the same kind of experience that she had in 1987. In her free time she enjoys sparring with her Turkish partner and teenage daughter and playing the saxophone. |

David Riddell
David Riddell is proud to have been born in Ghana, and to be a quarter Basque. He graduated with a degree in Politics and Government from the University of Kent in 1983. He started teaching in 1984, and in 1987 he started work as a teacher trainer. Recent appointments have included Director of Teacher Training, Director of Studies, and Academic Manager. He joined International House in May 2003. Since March 1994, he has been a Cambridge ESOL Joint Chief Assessor. His work has taken him to countries in Europe, North America, and South Africa. He is the author of "Teaching English as a Foreign/Second Language" (Hodder). |

Jayne Silva
Jayne Silva has been teaching for 17 years and has taught in France, Austria, Hong Kong, Latvia, Hungary and the UK. She has been a teacher trainer at IH London for the last ten years and she has worked on a wide variety of courses, many of them for overseas teachers of English. She has a particular interest in the lexical approach and she has given talks on this and other topics at conferences both in the UK and abroad. Shaun Sweeney
Shaun Sweeney did his initial TESOL Cert in 1999, after graduating from Reading with a BA in Psychology & Sociology. He spent 2 years in Japan, teaching students of all ages – ranging from 2 to 82 – in schools and in company (2 year olds mainly in schools). Returning to London in 2001, he worked for various organisations of varying repute as teacher and examiner. He took the DELTA in 2005 and has been working as a teacher and trainer at IH since January 2007.

Daphne Vallas
Daphne Vallas holds a BA in English Language and Literature and joined International House London in 1990. She has trained teachers and taught in England (IH London), Switzerland (IH Geneva) and France (IH Paris), where she worked as Head of French, teaching both French and English. Daphne is an examiner for the RSA Certificate in Business Language Competence. She is currently our Head of French, runs teacher training courses and is in charge of our trainer training programme.
